So
why
No?

The name of the festival, which includes the word “no”, defines many-sided interpretation and wide range of themes, which are given to the participants.

One of the interpretations assumes that art and culture often are based on the refuse from all kinds of attractions, views and so called prohibitions or, on the other side, are based on the compromise with them.

In other words, whatever ways the artist chooses to express himself in a masterpiece, somehow or other, the content of his creative work can be expressed in a simple formula of perpetual confrontation of the words YES / NO.

No-Festival of video art and animation is non‑commercial cultural action which aim is to widen the field of contemporary art in Chelyabinsk and also stimulate and support the beginners, involve in the artistic process new generation of authors and attract the attention of the general public to the processes in contemporary video art.

The main task of No‑festival is to introduce the public to the art of the new media, avant-garde way in the work of the contemporary video artists and animators, who make experiments with the language, context and technique of electronic and digital mass media.
